This private evening brought to you by Inside Access from Chase will begin with a wine and cocktail reception with passed hors d’oeuvres. During this time you will have an opportunity to visit the kitchen in small groups to see Chef Wolen and the Boka team in action. Following the reception, guests will be seated for a specially-curated five-course dinner with paired wines, demonstrating Chef Wolen’s contemporary American culinary style and seasonal influences. James Beard Award nominated Outstanding Pastry Chef, Meg Galus will join guests for a dessert demonstration.
Over the past 12 years, Boka Restaurant and Bar has become one of Chicago's most beloved restaurants. Located in the heart of Lincoln Park, Chef Wolen’s seasonal American menu is framed by Simeone Deary's timeless restaurant design. Lee Wolen joined Boka Restaurant as Executive Chef/Partner in January of 2014. Since his time there, Chef Wolen garnered a Michelin Star in 2015 and 2016, 3 stars and “Chef of the Year” by the Chicago Tribune, and was named “Chef of the Year” and “Restaurant of the Year” at the Jean Banchet Awards. He was also recently nominated for a James Beard Award for Best Chef: Great Lakes 2016.
Before coming to Boka, Chef Wolen worked as a Sous Chef in Chicago at Moto and Butter, and spent time at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons and the famed El Bulli. Chef Wolen also spent considerable time at Eleven Madison Park in New York, a three-Michelin-star restaurant, where he held the position of Sous Chef for three years.
